Every day we can see the effects of climate change caused by Earth’s inhabitants. As world leaders and scientists look for ways to slow, stop and reverse the damage being done, we found three cool dog people who teach us how dog owners and their pups can help in the fight.
Jesse Freidin, Lili Chin and Dr. Marty Goldstein all had dog-related careers that taught them the importance of the bond between a dog and his owner. They harnessed this knowledge and found a way to share it with others through books.
A dog’s acute sense of smell lets him identify unique odors that cancer cells emit. It is assumed that each different cancer gives off a unique scent for the dog to alert to. There have been several double-blind studies conducted that show trained dogs can successfully sniff out cancer through biological samples, like breath. The first of such tests were done in 2006.
