Meet Adele, an Adoptable Cutie From Labrador Friends of the South

This dog needs a good home. My showing her to you is part of my pledge for the 13 Project.

A couple of months ago, I made a pledge for The 13 Project as part of the Dogster team to profile an adoptable dog a day for a week. The 13 Project asks people to commit to 13 acts of kindness toward animals before the new year.

It’s been a really crazy year for me, full of transition. I hope you’ll forgive me for being a little late in completing my 13 Project pledge, as well as making some minor adjustments to it.

I’ve always loved big dogs, and after a particular Labrador named Ambroise helped me through heartache, Labs have become my favorite. Just looking at them makes me happy, which is why, if you peek over my shoulder, I’m frequently checking out It’s A Lab Thing. That’s where I discovered a breed specific rescue called Labrador Friends of the South.

This is Adele. Adele has some unique features and a mysterious past, so she needs a family who can provide extra love and attention. She currently resides with a foster family after being found in a parking lot — she was so thin her ribs could be counted from a distance! Though Adele can’t tell us her story herself, the scars on her neck and the damage to her front teeth suggests she was chained up or caged and tried to chew her way to freedom. Because this five-year-old Lab has never lived in a house before, she’s still working on her manners and she doesn’t trust other dogs easily.

If you’re interested in getting in touch with Labrador Friends of the South, you can contact the group here. Do you know any other Labrador rescue groups I should feature dogs from? Let me know in the comments!
