A blind man and his service dog recently approached the front of a line of taxicabs at Bradley International Airport, in Windsor Locks, Conn. around 1 a.m.. Driver Mansoor Ahmad, 24, and his father, Naveed Ahmad, 50, refused to take them, reports WTNH.
Airport officials told the cabbies to leave the front of the line of taxis, but they stayed pu. The airport manager came to the scene and ordered them to leave, and they still would not give up the coveted front-of-the-line position.
Then Naveed Ahmad made a brilliant move and called 911 to complain about being told to leave the starting position. When the state police arrived. the drivers once again refused to move. So the cops arrested them both.
The men were charged with refusing access to public transportation, and interfering with a police officer. The elder Ahmad was also busted for misuse of the 911 system.
Of course, the blind passenger or anyone else along the way could have called in police to much the same effect. But it’s kind of entertaining to know that the men tied their own noose with that 911 call.
