Look — I don’t even have enough discipline to get out of the house on time to catch the express bus to work. I tell myself, “But Liz! It will only take 30 minutes as opposed to an hour to get to work!” but it’s not enough to get me out the door. So, as you can imagine, I am pretty impressed with the discipline these dogs and their human friends have — after all, it takes a commitment from both the dog and the trainer in order to succeed.
These are my five favorite dog trick videos on YouTube:
1. Jiff the Pomeranian knows how to ride a skateboard and I’m too scared to even try
Last time I tried to learn how to ride a skateboard I fell and shattered a bottle of Champagne on the sidewalk in West Hollywood. To this day I still don’t know why I attempted that feat in the first place. But Jiff here can not only ride a skateboard, he can walk on two legs — backwards and forwards! I can’t even walk backwards!
2. Cooper is … wait, what? He’s a Chihuahua–Red Heeler mix who knows more than 20 tricks? STOP IT
Ummm … have you ever seen a cuter mutt? Don’t ask me how the physics of a Chihuahua-Red Heeler romance work, but I’m sure glad they figured it out, because isn’t Cooper the cutest? Especially when he does his peek-a-boo trick?
3. Kyra has really good taste in music
This is Kyra. According to her YouTube page, she was rescued from Greece and she’s also the “happiest dog ever.” Thanks to Kyra, I’m now the happiest human — ever! Can someone name the tune in this video? I am digging it.
4. Jumpy the dog knows his left from his right and that’s more than I know
Jiff rides a skateboard and that’s pretty cool, but Jumpy grinds, okay? He winks and does backflips and pees on your leg and he can even twerk it. This dog can twerk, okay? That’s it, the Internet is over — let’s all go home.
5. This Jack Russell can talk
With the help of a voiceover, I now know exactly what all the dogs in the above videos were thinking — “Just give me the doggone treat already!”
Now this is where you come in! If you haven’t already, please join our Facebook page and post your favorite dog trick video to our wall, tagged with #DogsterDogTricks. It can totally be a video of your own dog’s tricks! (In fact, I’d really dig that!) I’ll make sure to check them out and if people comment on them enough, I’ll even post them here on Dogster.
