Odin, a two-year-old Chihuahua mix was left at the Castaic Animal Shelter with a serious eye condition. He had little to no chance for adoption with a medical condition like this. Most likely he would have been overlooked for a healthier dog, or not even put out for viewing. It was all thanks to a New Leash on Life that Odin truly did find his new leash on life.

Glaucoma is a condition in which pressure builds up in the eye. Left untreated, glaucoma can cause constant pain and eventual blindness. In Odin’s case, he could have been living with this condition for months to a year. When the attending veterinarians saw Odin for the first time, they knew instantly the eye would need to be removed.

New Leash on Life, based in Newhall, California, quickly raised funds for sweet Odin. His surgery was a success. Four weeks later, Odin is on his way to recovery. Only having one eye doesn’t stop him from doing what he wants to. His personality is even shining. Briana Fugitt, Supervisor at New Leash On Life, loves Odin’s “Chihuahua dance” he does when he begs for attention. Odin just loves being loved.

Update: Since the filming of this video, Odin has found a loving home.
