For some dogs, when you leave the house — even for just ten minutes to run to the grocery store to pick up more kibble — it feels like abandonment. It feels like someone you really liked ripped your heart out, threw it on the floor, and stomped all over it. It feels so bad when you walk out that door, that in your absence, your dog might want to blast Adele‘s “Rolling In the Deep” and howl along, chewing up your favorite shoes as if he were a vindictive lover spurned.
Just like the poor little “Pawdele” in this video, whose heart breaks when her people walk out the door. When will they be back? Will this pain be forever? After all, some of the furniture is wrapped up — are they moving? Have they already gone? Don’t worry, little doggie, they’re going to return!
But how do you reassure your devoted canine when he doesn’t even understand what you’re saying?
Maybe you can do that trick where you leave the TV on so he thinks he’s not alone. You could even put that Adele song on repeat for him. Or better yet, put the video on to distract him.
