As we’ve seen before here, giving a homeless dog a home is always a win-win proposition for the person and the pet involved, but sometimesit can have positive repercussions on a bigger scale.
To adopt adog and, in Mark Twain’s famous phrase, “make him prosperous” obviously changes the dog’s life for the better. It can also improve the adopter’s life, and make him more prosperous in the process. And with the extra moneymade, the personcan give back to the very dogs that started him on the road to success.
That’s been the experience of Californian Brandon Hopkins. His business, All For One Clothing, proves that fashioncan have compassion, and when it does, everybody wins.
Four years ago, Brandon visited the Jurupa Valley Shelter in Riverside, CA, adopted a tiny, eight-week-old puppy, and named her Shilo. Today, the Doberman-Shepherd mixis a gorgeous creature weighing in at 100 pounds.(That’s her in the photo above.)
Shilo’s positive attitude and zest for life- not to mention her stylin’ black-and-tan look – awakened a can-do entrepreneurial spirit in her favorite human. In her honor, Brandondecided to start a T-shirt business that would target style-consciousdogloverslooking to make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs. And that’s how All For One (AFO) was born.
“All dogs deserve a safe and loving home,” Brandon says, “and hopefully AFO can have a hand in making that dream a reality.” Amen to that.
For every T-shirt sold,Brandon promises to donate $2 to ashelter or rescue – like Help for Homeless Petsof Billings, MT – so that other dogs like Shilo can geta shot at a second chance, and otherentrepreneurs like himself can get a healthy dose of money-making mutt motivation.
All For One Clothing’sall-cotton shirtsfeel soft and look good. At $19.99 “they may cost a little bit more than some other brands,” Brandon allows, “but we’ve had really good feedback on them. Plus, we put out coupon codes, so anybody that orders gets a discount.”
For us Dogsters, Brandon kindly set upa couponcode that will take 15 percent off any purchase on the site; this brings the price of one shirt down to $16.99. The code is PETREPORTER. To order, go here.
It’s a T-shirt business, but in running it Brandon has to wear a lot of hats. “Advertising, design, marketing – it’s all me,” he says. “What I plan on doing isworking with a specific shelter or rescue on every shirt that releases, so all the sales of that shirt will go to that specific shelter or rescue.”
The newest design, “RESCUE MOM,” comes in white or pink andbenefits Min Pin Rescue of Little Rock, AR. There are 50 of these cute shirtsavailable – hey Dogsters, let’s all show support for Brandon’s project and help him sell them out so he can get to work on the next design!
