When you think of Andy Warhol, you usually think of him creating some art on the floor while wearing a blank expression or enjoying some nightlife with Grace Jones while wearing a blank expression, but not playing with dogs while wearing a blank expression.
But Andy was a dog lover! So we found out thanks to a new auction going on right now: Andy Warhol @ Christie’s: Best in Show, a show of “animal-inspired works by the master of Pop Art.” In the photo series, we see a lot of dogs, along with some monkeys and eagles and cows. The auction company also tells us that Warhol was a proud owner of two Dachshunds, Archie and Amos. If you’d like to buy any of these pictures, the online-only auction runs through Tuesday, May 5, at Christie’s. Most of the starting bids are currently around $5,000 or less, which sound like a bargain for the right buyer. You can be the first at the dog park with an original Warhol Dog.
