If you love dressing your dog up for Halloween and helping raise money to benefit animals, you’ll want to know about Animal Fair’s Howloween Pet Costume Benefit in New York City later this month.

The Oct. 29 Halloween-themed event will raise funds for the Lucky Diamond Critical Care Ward at The Humane Society of New York. It will take place at a nightclub called Amnesia NYC, but you need not be present to enter the contest. That part will take place online. One winner and four runners-up will be featured at the event, according to the Animal Fair website.

Animal Fair founder Wendy Diamond — who’s also a pet lifestyle expert, author, and TV personality — encourages people to buy tickets in advance if they want to attend the benefit because no tickets will be sold at the door, according to the Animal Fair website.

The Humane Society ward that will benefit from the event is named for Diamond’s late dog Lucky, who died earlier this year.

“Lucky’s inspirational life and her legacy of helping animal rescue and welfare shone in her lifelong animal advocacy canine career,” Diamond said in July at another fundraiser — the marriage of her Coton de Tulear, Baby Hope. “The Humane Society named its critical care unit for Lucky as a tribute to her and all the animals she saved in her lifetime.”

This Howloween event has been featured on Fox, Yahoo, and on NBC’s Today show. The dog with the best costume will win a $500 doggie bag filled with canine goodies, join the celebrity judges, and help Baby Hope co-host the event. Judges include Real Housewives of New York’s Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, HGTV’s Dina Manzo, MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts, and Law and Order’s Richard Belzer.

Enter the contest by uploading a photo of your costumed pet. According to the Animal Fair website, last year’s entries included Snooki Schnauzers, True Blood Terriers, and a Frankenstein pup. The winner and runners-up will be announced Oct. 26.
