The saying used to go that a picture is worth a thousand words. I’ve spent at least that many words describing the plight of my late neighbor Betty’s dogs Marshy (left) and Happy, here and here, since Betty was found dead in her apartmentone week ago.
But nothing tells a story like a photo, so here are pics of Marshy and Happy sporting their new, short-haired dos. I hope these images make you smile. I also hope theyinspire you to take action on behalf of your own dog(s), ensuring that they stay safe in the event that you pre-decease them by drafting a Pets Trust.
In case you missed it, you might want to check out thisshort YouTube video of Marshy and Happy, to the tune of Gavin DeGraw’s “We Belong Together.”
The song was chosen because Marshy and Happy need to be adopted asthe dynamic duo they are.
It’s an aptmusical selection. The lyrics golike this:
We belong together
like the open seas and shores
wedded by the planet force
we’ve all been spoken for
The hammer may strike, be dead on the ground.
a net to my hand, a cross on his crown.
we’re done if, who we’re undone,
finished if who we are incomplete.
as one we are everything,
we are everything we need.
We belong together
like the open seas and shores
wedded by the planet force
we’ve all been spoken for
What good is a life,
With no one to share,
The light of the moon,
The honor of a swear?
The kingdom of men,
Is hollow within,
Without depth,
Without the care,
That it takes to make a perfect love,
The passion to find the other truth,
To visualize the straightening from the skew,
To treat a common comfort for all of you,
Would you try to live the way in which you speak?
Taste the milk of your mother earth’s love?
Spread the word of consciousness you seek?
We are everything we need
We belong together
like the open seas and shores
wedded by the planet force
we’ve all been spoken for
All this indecision
all this independent strength
still
we’ve got our hearts on safe
we’ve got our hearts on safe
Someday when you’re lonely,
sometime after all this bliss,
somewhere lost in emptiness,
I hope you find this gift…
I hope you find this gift..
I hope you find this gift.
