Over the weekend, a video surfaced of a cat walking a dog on a leash. One of the most amazing things about the video is that it absolutely true: The cat really is walking a dog on a leash, pulling it with her teeth, sometimes planting herself and yanking on it when the dog attempts to wander off.
Where are they going? They are going home. Aww.
These two remarkable creatures belong to Dafna Kopelis, who uploaded the video to YouTube a few days ago and is currently dealing with rapidly escalating Internet fame (the video has nearly 300,000 views as of this writing).
According to Yahoo News, Kopelis’ cat, Ruthi, has lived with two dogs since she was a 4-week-old kitten, and she considers herself one of the pack. Kopelis says the kitten comes when she calls her name, just like a dog.
Of course, the Internet is aflame with praise for this cat, and we, too, are duly impressed — what a smart feline, what a caring little fellow, blah blah blah.
We can hold our tongue no longer: What about that dog! Clearly, the dog is the hero of this tale. The dog is the protector, the loving guardian of the home, and he is humoring the cat, allowing himself to be led by the cat he has been charged to protect, like a dad allowing his young toddler choose the path through the zoo for the day. He probably wanted to go home, anyway.
Or he’s just a big softie. Whatever. We want them both.
