If you follow this column, you may remember Happy and Marshy, the little dogs who belonged to my late neighbor Betty Spicer.
Before Betty passed away, I expressed concern about her health; then,on the dayshe died, caring neighbors stepped up to offer her bereaved dogs a port in the storm.
We followed their progress here.
Now, at longlast,Happy and Marshy have the happy ending they — and all dogs— deserve.
They’ve been adopted by a couple in Westchester County, N.Y., who kindly bestowed dignified newnames on these K9survivors.Paying tribute toa certain famous actress-director, they redubbed the orphaned dogs Penny and Marshall.
Check out thatphoto of Penny and Marshall sharing a king-size dog bed in their forever home, looking snug as bugs in the proverbial rug. What a wonderful way to conclude week one of Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month and start the weekend!
Adopted dogs rule!
Special thanks to the team at the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals for their tireless efforts on these little dogs’ behalf — and all the great things they do for my hometown’s less-fortunate pets.
