Someone once asked me, “Why would you give Spot and Dolly a toy you know they will just destroy in five minutes?” This person did not have dogs, or I would not have had to explain that the pure pleasure they get from gutting and silencing a plush squeaky toy is worth any amount of ear-splitting noise and whatever money I spent.
That being said, I wouldn’t mind a product that gave them similar satisfaction without the death cries and mess to clean up. Enter Hear Doggy, a line of ultrasonic plush squeaky toys with new technology that promises to stand up to even the toughest teeth. We were more than happy to give them a try.
I began our test by squeezing the squeaker from a few rooms away. Neither dog stirred. I headed to Spot’s napping spot in my bedroom, squeezed the toy behind my back and woke the pup up. Dolly, a bit lazy thanks to the Benadryl keeping an outbreak of hives in check, ignored us as we headed to the backyard.
Once I threw the largest of the Martian toys to Spot, he did what he normally does with a new plush squeaky toy.
