Cantaloupe the Italian Greyhound Is a Kleptomaniac

The jig may be up for Cantaloupe, but you can still watch her crime spree as she steals things from a desk -- including our hearts!

We’re familiar with the term “cat burglar,” but “dog burglar”? Now that’s a different story! One that suits Cantaloupe the Italian Greyhound just fine.

See, Cantaloupe has a very bad habit: She’s a doggie kleptomaniac. And she just loooves to snatch odds and ends off her human’s desk. It happens without fail — every time Cantaloupe is alone with the desk, something goes missing. But how does she do it? And why does she only steal certain things?

Cantaloupe’s housemate — who runs Camels and Friends — decided to go undercover to answer those very questions. She set up a camera on a tripod and pointed it at the scene of the crime and let it roll for about a week. The resulting footage is enough to make you laugh, as well as admire Cantaloupe’s sheer determination and physical prowess. If she wants a little toy from the desk, she goes to every length to get it!

But we forgive you, Cantaloupe, since you’re just too doggone cute to stay mad at for long. According to Camels and Friends, Cantaloupe is 2 and was rescued from a less than ideal situation when she was a puppy. Now she lives with a good family who is happy to have her — even when she’s a naughty dog!

Is your pup a dog burglar? What’s the strangest thing she or he has “stolen?” Let us know in the comments.
