To celebrate more than 200 years of Indian restaurants in the United Kingdom, our British cousins have designated this week (yesterday through October 15) National Curry Week. Why not join the celebration by making your dog a simple curry meal?
This column detailed the hows and whys of making curry for K9s — aka Curried Dog Food — back in August, fully two months ahead of time.Check it out hereto see why spicing up meals with curry is especially great for senior dog health. (Curry is excellentfor promoting joint and brain health in dogs as well as people.)
But your dog needn’tbe a senior to benefit from the flavor and nutrition of curry. It’s that good, and that good for dogs!
Curry is also great (and super-tasty) for us mere humans, so as long as you’ve got the ingredients — turmeric(pictured at right), cinnamon, and coconut oil, eachamazingly nutritious on its ownbut even more so when combined— by all means go ahead and make yourself a nice curry meal, too. Curry boasts so many health benefits that you’ll want to make it for your dog every day of the year.
The recipe is simple — so simple, in fact, that it involves no cooking and very little measuring. So get the kids in on the fun, and they’ll know how to cook curry for life!
To recap the recipe:Liberally sprinkle your dog’s food — kibble or canned, carnivorous or vegetarian — with turmeric and cinnamon (roughly a half-teaspoon of each should do the trick). Over it all, pour a loving teaspoonful of coconut oil (whose numerous health benefits are detailed here). Stir, and serve. Yield: One happy, healthy hound.
How will you be celebrating National Curry Week, Dogsters? Please spill the beans (as it were) in the comments!
