It’s no secret that I believe dogs and high fashion belong with each other. Dogs instantly class-up any photo shoot and look fabulous on everything from sweaters to oversized silk scarves.
I was browsing windows in San Francisco’s Union Square area a few weekends back when I came across the balloon dog necklace you see below. It was subtly adorning a mannequin behind the glass of a French shop I hadn’t heard of before, Cop. Copine.
Cop. Copine turned out to be my kind of place (albeit WAY beyond my budget). The clothes were beautifully-crafted and in classic silhouettes with a bit of edge. Many of the outfits were designed to be multi-purpose (for instance, the attendant showed me a top with a hood that could be worn backwards and forwards with equally-flattering effects) almost in an effort to help justify the expense.
The balloon dog piece ($68) was one of several Cop. Copine necklaces that drape well below chest level. I expected the length to be awkward on me, as I’m not French model-flat, but found it to be a pretty covetable accessory after trying it on. I love how it’s been styled in the catalogue (pictured above and below).
Cop. Copine doesn’t yet have an online store, but you can find a list of brick-and-mortar shops on their website.
