Dancing Nathan, Our Monday Miracle, Wants You to “Dance Nekkid”

Do you love dancing but feel shy about it? Take a cue from Nathan, who's got some dirty moves.

I sat across from my date, searching for something to say.

“So, do you like to dance?” I asked her.

She shook her head. “I mean, I like to dance, but I’m not very good at it.”

“I love to dance,” I said. “It doesn’t matter if you think you’re good at it. As long as you’re confident and having fun, no one cares!”

And I really do love to dance, just like Dancing Nathan does.

You might say that Nathan’s moves are not what you think of when you think “best dance moves in the world,” but he wiggles with such reckless abandon that you really can’t help but marvel at his ability.

Nathan is a Chinese Crested who was rescued in 2008 after his owner died and he was left alone with the rest of her dogs for about a week. Saddled with an aggressive fear of men, Nathan was bounced from rescue to foster to rescue until 2011, when a Bald Is Beautiful member (yes, that’s the best name for a rescue ever) decided to open her home to him. Through rigorous training and lifestyle adjustment, Nathan’s aggression has been minimized, though the work is ongoing.

But he can sure dance! Lots of people think Nathan’s dancing is because he’s itchy, but he actually has good skin — he just loves to dance! He eventually learned to do it on command.

And now you can learn a few of Nathan’s moves:

1. The dance of seduction

2. Gangnam Style

3. The Snoopy Happy Dance

4. The two-step hip-sway

5. The Spring for Spring

So the next time you’re in the club and you hear your favorite song and your toe is tapping but you’re resisting cause you think you’ll look silly, just think of Nathan and let loose!
