Studio Legohead Brings Bold Dog Drawings to Etsy

Jo Chambers creates stark and arresting images of dogs for prints, greeting cards, and postcards.

We know “Studio Legohead” sounds a bit odd. (We had to read it twice too.) And when you see what Studio Legohead is, it seems a bit incongruous as well. Scouring Pinterest (have you seen our board yet?), we found some really cool dog art and, a couple of clicks later, arrived at Studio Legohead. (Read it again. Say it again.)

Studio Legohead is Jo Chambers, an English artist who loves to draw dogs. According to her website, Chambers has a penchant for “fine lines” and draws with abandon — without the safety net of an eraser. (Whatever happens, happens.) The result is stark colored original drawings and collages — and sometimes freehand embroidery — some of which are reproduced as prints, greeting cards, and postcards. She is a bold artist. And with her level of skill and talent, why shouldn’t she be?

Her work has been featured in numerous places — she even did a portrait of Dog Milk’s Wrigley — which is why we were shocked to see that we hadn’t written more about her. We are correcting that oversight immediately with this post.

We really love her dog collages. They speak to the artist’s love for dogs and for drawing inspiration from all around the world. It’s like even the simplest thing becomes an object of wonder to Legohead … kind of like the way a dog might regard something novel. And it’s a refreshing way to look at life.
