Loving Pets Corp. has announced a voluntary recall of its Simply Nourish Biscotti with Beef and Sweet Potatoes dog treats. The recalled products have an expiration date of February 2016. No other lots or products are thought to be affected.

According to PetSmart, the recall is because of suspected mold growth during manufacturing.

PetSmart says in a news release that if you have the treats at home, you should stop using them immediately. To get a refund, bring a receipt to the store where you bought the product. For any further questions about the recall, pet owners can call the Loving Pets Corp. directly at (866) 599-7387.

The website Dog Food Advisor also notes that American consumers can report problems with dog food directly to the FDA through the agency’s website. Canadian consumers can report using a form on the Health Canada website.

Mold seems to be a recurring motivator for recalls lately. Recently we reported on the recall of Kong Aussie Sticks because of mold growth during the drying process. In another recent story, Bravo recalled some of its Turkey and Chicken foods because of a salmonella risk.
