Like many young people trying to get their footing in San Francisco, I worked for a little while as a dog walker.
As a dog walker you become very concerned and acquainted with poop. “Did Fluffy poop this morning? Oh, no? I will bring extra doggie bags.” If a client’s stool was soft, I’d make a note of it in my report: “Fluffy experienced a bit of diarrhea this morning, but was then fine.” It is not unlike caring for an infant.
I watched the dogs poop many times — in fact, usually once a walk, sometimes more. And have you ever noticed the expressions dogs contort their faces into while pooping? Usually it’s one of concerned anxiety — I imagine that this is because mid-defecation an animal is pretty vulnerable to predators. They’ve got more nuanced drama going on in their faces than Kristen Stewart in Twlight.
As you can see, I’ve contemplated this at length, and apologies to the Tinder date I am probably meeting in an hour who just did an Internet search for my name and found this article. (Hi there! Can’t wait to make out with you!) This morning, when I saw The Bold Italic’s take on the drama of pooping dogs, well … I needn’t say more, need I? Never have I laughed so hard at something so disgusting (goodness bless dogs for reminding us to not take life so seriously).
Check out the The Bold Italic for more of these photos and details on how you can submit your own.
What kind of face does your dog make during the deed? Does it ever crack you up?
