Pi Day is not to be confused with Pie Day, which is in January. Pi Day is today because the date is March 14, or 3.14 — just like the magical constant irrational number that represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter (are you having flashbacks to your high school geometry classes yet?).
So even though Pi Day is not Pie Day, we’re still celebrating with pies because pies are delicious and circular, and therefore, you could use pi to calculate the measurements of a pie. Which doesn’t mean much to a dog because dogs can’t do math, let alone use pi to figure out pie. How many more times can we say the word “pi” or “pie”? Pie!
Dogs love pie. Dogs love anything that’s edible and humans-only and therefore forbidden, which makes it even more delicious.
Fortunately, you can get — or make — pies for dogs. Unfortunately, we don’t think that will stop hardcore counter surfers from nosing the human pie you’ve got cooling there.
“Oh heeey, I see there is a pie there. You should let me test it to make sure it isn’t poisoned.”
Use pi to calculate the area of pie missing. Pie!
This is more like it:
“Oh, you need that pie to cool? I can cool it with my tongue.”
Happy Pi Day!
