After the success of its Livestream adoption event, the Bill Foundation wanted to offer people who aren’t sports fans a chance to partake in Super Bowl Sunday and help raise money for a great cause.

That’s how the Rescue Bowl was born.

Similar to Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl, the Rescue Bowl featured a Livestream of two teams of adoptable dogs (the Shelter Dogs vs the Street Dogs) playing “against” each other in one very adorable sports event.

Though the event was free to watch, viewers could vote for their favorite team with a donation to the Bill Foundation. For every $100 raised for either team, that team was awarded a point. The Street Dogs won 22-15, but considering the goal was to raise money for rescue, no one really lost. (By our calculation, that was at least $3,700 raised.)

Since the event, adoption applications have flooded the Bill Foundation, and the organization is busily reviewing them. Comeback kid Micah was awarded Most Valuable Pup for his efforts in the game.

Some online viewers even showed up to Healthy Spot, where the game was hosted, to see the dogs in person. How cute is that? And dog rescue hero Elad Hagar of Hope for Paws appeared to help out with the fun.

Congrats to the Street Dogs and Micah, and to the Bill Foundation for all it does.
