Sound the alarms — it’s a jailbreak!

For weeks the poor staff at the Happy Tails Resort in Norfolk, VA, got the blame when dogs were found running loose and daycare owner Jana Underwood blamed them for it. After all, how could the dogs possibly manage to free themselves? Someone must have been leaving the gate ajar, allowing the dogs to run rampant.

When the staff insisted that they were actually doing their jobs, it was time for further investigation.

What they discovered is that daycare regular Della, a yellow Labrador Retriever, had mastered the art of opening gates! She’s the only dog at Happy Tails who can do this, earning her the nickname Houdini. Somehow Della had figured out how to jump up and push down on the horizontal handles, freeing her canine comrades and unleashing chaos throughout the facility.

Her human protectors — Bainy and Steve Cyrus — insist that they didn’t teach Della how to be an escape artist. It’s just something she picked up on her own. And from the looks of it, she seems to get a kick out of the ensuing cascade of canines.

What kind of mischief does your dog like to get into?
