If you will please indulge my rant for a moment …

So, I’m in Las Vegas in mid-December, and the NFL Playoffs are coming up. Being the savvy sportswriter that I am, of course I’m going to put a Jackson down on my Super Bowl prediction. Looking at the board in the Sportsbook at the MGM Grand, I see the surging Dallas Cowboys listed at 12-to-1 to win it all. Check.

Fast-forward to Sunday afternoon in Green Bay. Cowboys down five, two minutes to go, fourth down. Tony Romo throws deep to the sideline to Dez Byrant, who leaps, catches, comes down on the 1-yard line. Ruled a catch! Hail Mary, Part 2!

My shot at the $240 is about to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Wait … is that Green Bay challenging the call? Wait … did the ball come out of Dez’s hands when he hit the ground. Wait … wait … WAIT! NO!!!

Call reversed. No catch. Game over. Cowboys lose.

Anger is really not strong enough a word. I am swearing, I am looking for objects to throw. Rocky, our dog, is hastily leaving the room.

I seek counseling for my misery. I go to Facebook. And what is the first post I see?

A video. Of a dog. In a ball pit. Going insane.

And just like that, I am over it.

The moral of the story? If you ever get so mad, that you think the world is out to screw you, that there’s nothing left to believe in, watch this video. Watch this dog show you how to hold onto the ball. Lots and lots of balls.

And be happy.
