Three Dogs Answer the Call of the (Not Very) Wild

Does your dog sometimes howl like a wolf? Even when he steps on a squeaky toy or listens to violin? These dogs do.

Sometimes a squeaky toy is just so awesome it calls out a dog’s inner wolf.

Okay, maybe not, but for this adorable Australian Shepherd puppy, her squeaky toy makes her so happy she’s just got to howl … over and over and over again!

It’s totally cute to watch this pup discover her toy, figure out how to make it squeak, and then howl along with it. Again and again.

This next pup responds to a recording of wolves howling by answering the call of the wild. Or at least that’s what she thinks! We know every dog likes to believe that he is still the wild wolf that he descended from, but we bet that if an actual wolf heard this dog’s howling, it would sound like gibberish. But keep on howling, dogs!

Or maybe dogs howl because they are expressing distaste for a particularly poor violin rendition of classical music, like this Golden Retriever, who has also been confined to the Cone of Shame. You’d probably be howling too if you were him — subjected to the Cone and forced to listen to someone’s violin practice (which is probably amplified by the cone). If you’re a dog, even a day in the Cone seems like forever!
