Hey Dogster friends! I’m heading out for 12 hours in planes shortly to get to a place that really shouldn’t take me that long to get to. But it’s OK. It’s all part of the research for Soldier Dogs, my upcoming book on military working dogs, and it will be a great trip.

I haven’t started packing, and my plane leaves at some ungodly hour in not that long a time from now, so I’m going to leave you with a simple but fitting photo post featuring dogs in suitcases. These dogs sure do seem to want to go along on their owners’ trips, don’t they?

Jake is getting pretty bummed now that he has seen my suitcase come out. I think when I go back upstairs he may well be in mine. But he is SO not a carry-on kind of guy. Have any of your dogs ever given similar hints that they don’t want to be left behind? What are you doing with your dog if you go on a trip or vacation this summer?
