The broad concept behind photographer Kim Wolf’s Dogs Of New York project is to portray a “celebration of New York City’s dogs and the people who love them.” The charm comes in the details though, as each portrait of a pooch and his or her person is captioned to reveal a fragment of their story and relationship. Here are five that deliver the most impact.
Moncho and Baby are two genial giants who live out in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn. “Smart, loyal and gentle,” says their owner, Tuscon, before adding, “and socialized — that’s important.”
You can find Connie frolicking in the East Village, likely with the intention of sourcing a pop-up snack spot. “Her goal in life is to get the next treat,” says her owner.
“Morgan and his dog Dilla live in Bushwick,” comments the caption to this snapshot in front of a graffiti mural. It goes on to explain how the dog’s name came about: “Dilla — like quesadilla!”
Say hello to Johann and Bashi, a couple of distinguished dog dudes named after the composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Here they are taking a casual afternoon stroll in the Wall Street vicinity.
These guys are Motita, Chico, Coco and Gigi. “They are my babies, my sons and daughters,” gushes their owner, Fidel.
