Editor’s note: Have you seen the new Dogster print magazine in stores? Or in the waiting room of your vet’s office? This article appeared in our August/September issue. Subscribe to Dogster and get the bi-monthly magazine delivered to your home.

I am obviously biased given the title of our magazine and website, but I strongly feel that a home isn’t complete until you have your pup’s particular personality immortalized in art and grinning at you from its perch on wall or mantelpiece. That said, there is an ungodly amount of tacky dog art out there, so let us steer you toward four pet portrait artists who rise above the rabble.

1. Jo Chambers, Studio Legohead

Jo’s art is pure cheer. She’ll anoint your dog with creamy pastels and florals that pop right off the paper and put a smile on your face every time you enter the room.

$50 to $250; studio-legohead.com

2. Manda Wolfe, Art by Manda

If you have a penchant for pop art, Manda Wolfe is your artist. She hand paints your dog’s likeness in a distinct comic style and favors bright backdrops that bring the fun. We love that she is as big a dog freak as we are — she fosters, and sometimes foster fails. Well, who hasn’t?!

$65 to $1,300; artbymanda.com

3. Jennifer Davis

Jennifer’s distinct blend of color, pattern, and mood has made her one of my favorite artists to watch (and, I have to confess, collect from). The fact that you can get this artist’s sensibilities laser focused on your pet is nothing short of remarkable.

$125 to $500; jenniferdavisart.com

4. Carter Kustera

Carter’s portrait art has been featured everywhere from U2’s Pop Mart Tour to Jonathan Adler stores for a reason. It’s quirky, fun, and wonderfully irreverent. If your pup has a tagline, this is the place to make it official.

$110 to $400; carterkustera.com
