Just the other day, my dog Spot got a rabies vaccination and a new tag to wear as proof. It came with a twisted piece of metal that the vet tech said would require pliers to secure onto his collar’s D-ring.
Pliers schmiers, I thought to myself.
Once home, instead of taking the vet tech’s advice, I tried to work the rabies tag onto the existing split ring hanging from Spot’s collar. One bloodied fingertip later, I gave up and went in search of my pliers. They were missing from their spot in the toolbox, which meant that “Buy pliers” went to the top of my to-do list.
Thankfully, later that week I received an email from the folks at LINKS-IT, asking if I wanted to try their product, a plastic device that makes attaching tags easy.
Boy did I ever.
When the device arrived in the mail, it took less than a minute to read the instructions and attach all of Spot’s tags to his collar. I just pulled back the locking crossbar, snapped apart the LINKS-IT, slid the tags onto the bottom half and the collar ring onto the top half, and then locked the device in place. Easy peasy.
And no bloody fingertips!
The LINKS-IT Pet Tag Connector costs $7.99 though the company’s website. And lest you think a plastic connector will not last as long as a metal ring, the company says it has been tested to hold 58 pounds and to open and close more than 50,000 times. Even I don’t move that much.
