Four-year-old Edward Carter was dropped off at a shelter in September of this year covered in hardened red moles. A biopsy revealed cancer — Edward Carter has stage 5 advanced T-cell lymphoma. For most shelter dogs this would be an immediate death sentence, but for Edward Carter it was his ticket into the Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, which is also home to Ottis to the Rescue. There is no cure for Edward Carter’s illness, so his human friends are just doing the best they can to make him comfortable as he eases his way to the Rainbow Bridge.
Edward and his human friends are working closely with one of the best veterinarians in their region to ensure that the Powder Puff Chinese Crested Maltese mix is getting the best care possible while in hospice. Edward Carter is undergoing chemotherapy, but his family is putting his quality of life first.
Which is why they are deciding to go ahead with treatment. According to Edward’s Facebook page, the little dog is “full of spit and vinegar,” and by no means ready for the Rainbow Bridge just yet. He’s fighting for his “right to party” and from the looks of it, there ain’t no party like a Motley Zoo party.
So check out Edward Carter’s Facebook page (where all these photos came from) to keep up to date with this vivacious dog’s life. Don’t be sad for Edward — he’s living the good life.
