The award for Best in World goes to the dog who has distinguished herself in the area of motion pictures and film, and this year the award goes to …. Naanak from Gravity!

Wait, you mean that dog who wasn’t in the film won the top prize at the Fido Awards? That dog who could only be heard at the end barking?
Indeed. But the academy — or, in this case, the folks at the Fidos — did not completely foul the bed in making their choice. First off: What a bark. Throaty. Plaintive. Ringing out in theaters nationwide. Daniel Day-Lewis is probably consulting with her right now, getting into character for his upcoming role as Goofy (unconfirmed).
Second, according to the BBC, Naanak plays a starring role in the other Gravity, the companion piece called Aningaaq, which tells the story of the dog’s barking from the dog’s point of view (or rather her owner’s), back on Earth. The seven-minute short was made by Jonas Cuaron, the son of Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron, and released in November.
In the film, a bunch of sled dogs co-star, one of which is supposedly Naanak. If you haven’t seen it, go to your kitchen, pop some Orville’s, and settle into your couch for seven minutes of bonus material. Important note: This film is heartbreakingly sad. For dog lovers, it’s devastating.
Naanak also won the the Blockbuster Bowser prize at the Fido Awards. On hand to accept the award was Suki, a fluffy white pup. Other winners include a lapdog from The Great Gatsby and a Chihuahua from The Bling Ring.
