Nowhere is this more evident than at the Aspen Boarding Kennel and Animal Shelter, a warm, caring community of dog lovers dedicated to ensuring that all Aspen’s dogsare treated with the TLC alldogs deserve.
The first componentis the Aspen Boarding Kennel, a full-service doggie daycareand overnight boarding facility. Thanks toits webcam, clients willbe headed up theski slope ina gondola, watching via iPhone as their lucky dogs play in daycare!Butthe kennel does more than show its paying customers a good time. It also helps ensure thatthe community’s less-fortunate dogsget a chance at love andswag too.
Profits fromthekennelactually support the Aspen Animal Shelter, a privatized, for-profit, self-sustaining, no-kill shelter! Until loving homes are found, the shelter provides sanctuary (plus spay/neuter, vaccinations, and microchipping) for the homeless dogs and cats of Aspen, Pitkin County, and beyond — rescued dogs comehere from California to New Yorkand sundry points in between! While awaiting their forever homes, adoptable dogs are showered with the same first-class treatment as the paying K9 customers.
“The animals with homes generate revenue to support theanimals without homes,” explains Seth Sachson (pictured above), lead dog and founder of the Aspen Boarding Kennel and Animal Shelter. This entrepreneurial dynamo is dedicated toanimal rescue — his owneight dogs, two horses, two goats, 12 chickens, four ducks, and one cat are all rescues,so it’s no surprise thathecleverly created such a compassionate business model.
Sachson also happens to be a Virgo, and hisdogged dedication to finding loving homes for all of Aspen’s companion animals —not to mentionhis kennel’s impressivelyhigh standard of neatness and cleanliness! — are hallmarks of the Virgodog lover profile (read more about that here).
“Volunteers are always welcomed, and encouraged, to walk the dogs, brush the cats, or even wash the dirty bowls,” he says. That’s so Virgo!
Right now, the spotlight is on a just-rescued litter of adorable eight-week-old Boxer-mix puppies (see photo at left) who would love to find their forever homes in time for the holidays. Please check out these babies and help spread the word — sothe shelter can make “room at the inn” for more homeless pets.
