Let me confess something. As a kid born on the fourth day of the fourth month of the year, I’ve been drawn to the number four and have become mildly superstitious about it … so much so, that on the days I manage to snag the fourth parking slot in front of my apartment building, I feel like all my stars have aligned.

Said stars were aligning even further the day I discovered Four & Sons, a beautifully curated online publication that brings two of my obsessions together: dogs and fierce design.

Four celebrates dogs from an arts-and-culture perspective, and it’s edited by Melbourne-based Marta Roca, a designer who has said she wouldn’t mind being a Dalmatian if she had to take dog form, given her love of black and white. Roca’s love affair with typography and layout is evident on every page of the site, and I’ve more than once thought that I’d toss out my subscription to Modern Dog if I could get my paws on Four in print form.

It turns out I might get my wish! Four is celebrating its first anniversary by attempting to raise $1,500 toward producing a print version featuring the best pieces from its 12-month run (and some new, surprise pieces, writes Roca).

Dog lovers can pledge $10 to $50 to get a copy of the print edition and some other goodies ($5 if you’re content seeing what’s bound to be a beautiful layout in digital form). The money will go toward printing and distribution.
