Grammy Faith might be as small and as a cute as a bunny, but a dog is not a rabbit, and even rabbits can’t spend their whole lives locked in a cage.
But that’s exactly how Grammy Faith spent the first 12 years of her life. Just last month, Grammy Faith was rescued from a puppy mill, where she had lived imprisoned in a wire hell, forced to breed litter after litter of Chihuahua puppies for sale. With the help of Clifford’s Army Rescue Extravaganza, Grammy Faith and a handful other dogs (two of which were Grammy Faith’s pups) were given the chance to start a new life — because it’s never too late.
Then, as of September 1, Grammy Faith got to go home to her forever family to spend the rest of her years in peace and love.
But she hasn’t forgotten where she came from or the difficult life she just barely escaped, and she wants to use her platform to raise awareness about the dark side to that puppy in the window.
While legislation is just barely catching up to public demands to do something about puppy mills, Grammy Faith wants us to know that there’s a lot we can do simply be educating our friends and family.
So Grammy Faith and other dogs with similar stories can be a source of education, especially during Puppy Mill Awareness Month. We’ve got a lot of resources right here on Dogster about adoption, rescue, and looking for ethical breeders.
