Here’s a very catchy, fun song that may help lighten the blog mood after yesterday’s horrific sled-dog story. Grammy nominee Mickey Carrol recently turned 70 (he sure doesn’t look it!). He sings and plays lead guitar for the charming song, “Old Dogs.” I listened to it over and over again yesterday as I went about my work. Watch out! If you like New Orleans-style jazzy music, you’ll be hooked.

The song has a double meaning, of course, but I tend to see the “dog” side of it, not the “older human” side. In fact, wouldn’t this be an amazing theme song for an organization like Muttville, which specializes in finding homes for senior dogs? I can also see an appealing short animation starring an old dog, with this as the theme music. Many possibilities, including me putting together another Old Dogs slide show using the song as the theme, with Mickey’s permission. But for now, I just enjoy the music. I hope you do, too.
