You can tell when a scent catches your dog’s attention. She’ll be trotting along the sidewalk when she suddenly stops. Her nostrils work overtime to draw in the aroma. Nose to the air — or nose to the ground — she tracks it to the source.
And then slams herself on top of it in a doggy version of stop, drop, and roll. Because sniffing it isn’t enough; a dog must wear a good stink.
After a long, cold winter like some of us had this year, sometimes it’s good enough to roll around in freshly cut grass, according to Tucker.
It’s so much better, though, when additional ingredients are added, creating musky notes that appeal to the most discerning canines. Deer droppings were particularly popular with the canine set this spring. Just ask Lilah.
The best scents attract attention; once someone starts radiating an alluring fragrance, others are going to want to wear it, too. My dogs will do nearly anything to immerse themselves in Eau de Goose Peau or Parfum de Dead Worm.
