It’s late August, folks, and you know what that means: The precious days of summer are winding down to their finale. Then it’s back to school, back to reality, back to cooler weather.

Since the end of summer kind of bums me out, I figured I’d write something to cheer myself up. So here ya go: How I Spent My Summer Vacation (If I Were a Dog).

Dear friends,

I had the best summer ever! I’m so sad that it’s almost over, but grateful for all the memories (which I can only remember until … wait, what was I doing again?). I did so many cool things and I smelled so many stinky things — stinky things that I won’t forget — wait! SQUIRREL!

Anyway, here are some of my favorite things from this summer:

I spent lots of time at the beach working on my tan. Just kidding! I’m covered in fur! Either way, it was a lot of fun to run with other dogs and eat dead seagulls (until the humans yelled at me! I would have shared if they would’ve asked).

I tried diving, but I learned the hard way that the puppy pool is just for wading (BOL!).

The longer days meant I could get more fetching in, although the humans didn’t seem as enthusiastic about throwing the ball once we got to the 100 millionth time. When the ball disappeared (I could have sworn they threw it, but I dunno what happened, I guess MAGIC), we went for some long twilight walks, which were AWESOME! I love walks!

But then I got really tired from all that fetching and walking, so I spent a lot of time sleeping on the porch next to the humans, who also spent a lot of time on the porch drinking something they called “beer.” They said it’s not for dogs — what do they mean? Everything is for me!

Hahah, this is my friend’s impression of a human. Look at me! I’m a human! I have two legs so I am slooow.

But the best part of summer was all the friends I made.

Love,

Dog
