A few weeks ago, new Dogster and Catster writer Tim Link asked me if I’d be game to chat with him on his Pet Life Radio show, “Animal Writes,” about what life is like here at Dogster HQ.
In March, we rolled our many blogs (including the popular For the Love of Dog Blog and Vet Blog) into a new content management system and relaunched the editorial areas of the sites as Dogster and Catster magazines. Running two zines instead of a collection of blogs is a different game, and I went from being the sole editor juggling what felt like a million things in true start-up style to the person in charge of a small but growing editorial team (we now have a lovely managing editor, associate editor, and assistant editor as well as a part-time copy editor).
Tim and I chatted about the blog-to-magazine changes when I sat down with him to tape the show; he grilled me on how Dogster and Catster make ends meet, and how we set ourselves apart from the pack with our magazines’ point of view.
The radio segment went live on Pet Life Radio’s website Monday, and you can listen to the interview free over here. It’s also available on iTunes (download the 10/15/2012 clip — episode 50, also free).
It was only after listening to myself on the air that I realized what a quick talker I am! (Gah!) So I apologize if I sound like I’m on speed (I swear I wasn’t.) I’m very much a words-on-screen (or paper) kind of girl, and this radio thing is new territory for me.
So yes, have a listen, and if you have questions about Dogster that I didn’t address on Tim’s show, please leave them in the comments section below and I’ll do my best to answer them.
