Our Bonehead of the Week Is Jessica Biel, Who Seems to Think Shock Collars Are Okay for Dogs

Surely there's a better way, Jessica?

Before now, everybody thought Jessica Biel was a wonderful dog owner. She has a Pit Bull, Tina, and she regularly tweets about her life with the dog, tagging them #TuesdayswithTina. Everybody who regularly tweets about her dog is a wonderful dog owner, right?

We’re not so sure. We suspect she’s a Bonehead. Why else was she taking a nice stroll around New York City with Tina and one of her other dogs, a Boxer, with both of them wearing shock collars?

Surely she knows that shock collars are nasty devices that instill fear and pain in dogs. Perhaps she never has to shock her dogs and is using them only in the “fear” capacity. Still, not a great emotion to put your dog through on a nice walk around New York City.

One would assume that Biel, prior to the shock collar, had run through every other option in the book, running through trainer after trainer in an attempt to keep her dog under her control using humane methods. Or perhaps she just got Cesar Milan, who told her to use a shock collar.

Also, there appears to be approximately 1 billion photos of Biel walking her dogs on the Internet, sometimes accompanied by husband Justin Timberlake, often the two of them in athletic gear. Just how unruly are these dogs? Why the sudden appearance of the shock collar? Or are there actually shock collars on some of these pictures? Poop bag holders, absolutely. It’s hard to tell about shock collars, but we have our suspicions.

Despite the reams of bad press her walk around NYC cost her, with gossip sites lining up to post the pics and label her a bad dog owner, it’s not a total loss for Biel.

She received high marks for her outfit.

“While her dogs sported the questionable gadgets, there was nothing in question regarding the former 7th Heaven actress’s trendy outfit choice. Wearing white sandals, loose-fitting linen pants, a white tank top, and a sheer gray cardigan, the star looked casual for her day out with the dogs.”

That was courtesy of Us Weekly. At least it bashed her for using shock collars in the paragraphs before this one. Wait, no it didn’t. The story could barely muster up any outrage, merely calling the shock collars “controversial to some people.”

You get to be Bonehead too, Us Weekly.
