This coming Saturday, October 29th, consider taking a roadtrip with your dog to New York’s glorious Hudson Valley, now in the midst of its dazzling autumn leaf display. On that day in Rhinebeck, Pause Dog Boutique– whose enterprisingowners created the elegantCompanion Wear jewelry collection- presents its third annual “Howl’oween Dog Costume Parade & Festivities.
This lovely local tradition benefits local families and pets in need. Pre-register here; the fee is $10 per dog, and all proceeds will be used to purchase and distribute dog food at animal shelters.
Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including Best Overall Canine Costume, Best Float, Best Group Theme, Scariest Costume, Most Creative, and, of course, Cutest Costume. Local Rhinebeck business owners and employees will serve as the judges.

Post-parade feast-ivitiesinclude a pet adoption and information fair, a raffle, and other fun activitiesincluding bobbing for halloweenies, a dog-treat stacking contest, and a dog-themed jack-o-lantern contest. There will also be plenty of food, plus music provided by a DJ.
Trick-or-treating goes to the dogs that day as well, with more than 30 local merchants promising tohand out dog treats to event participants.
