All Month: Waggin’ Weekends at 312 Chicago Restaurant

Although all Kimpton Hotels are pet friendly, the 312 Chicago restaurant within Kimpton Hotel Allegro in Chicago has launched its Waggin’ Weekends on the dog-friendly patio through Labor Day weekend. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Italian restaurant offers complimentary chef-made treats for furry friends, available with any human purchase. Pups can also choose from a special Doggie Brunch Menu featuring $7 entrees (salmon and white rice; carrots, celery and cheese; chicken and pasta) and $4 treats (peanut butter biscuit; beefsicle) or $9 for an entrée and treat. 312 Chicago is located in Chicago’s Loop at 136 N. LaSalle on the corner of Randolph & LaSalle.

Don’t miss fine art dog photographer Jesse Freidin’s exhibit at the Museum of Dog, a beautiful new museum that opened this year in North Adams, Massachusettes. Jesse’s work has appeared in Dogster, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Garden and Gun magazines and more, plus he’s been voted best dog photographer in San Francisco and Los Angeles many times. You may have seen any one of his three viral dog photography series, two of which were published as books. This particular exhibit runs through August 15. Saturday, July 7: Coon Dog Day Festival

It’s time for the 55th Annual Coon Dog Day in beautiful Saluda, North Carolina. Traditions include a parade, Big Wheel Race, a 5K, great food, crafts, street dance and live music. This amazing festival started as a chicken-supper fundraiser for the local Coon Club and has grown to an event that more than 10,000 people attend each year. Dive into serious summer fun at the annual Agway of Cape Cod’s Paw Palooza dog festival in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Of course, there’s dock diving, local police K-9 teams, agility experts, stunt dogs and a place for selfies in the Kissing Booth. Along with seminars, lots of dog-centric vendors and raffles, the event gives back in a big way to local animal welfare organizations.

Saturday, July 28: Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition

Surf’s definitely up at the 13th-annual and longest-running dog surfing competition. Dogs travel from all over to participate in the family-friendly California event. Pups compete in heats based on weight and ability, as well as handler categories and tandem divisions, all judged by professional surf judges. You’ll also find food trucks, a beer garden and surFUR expo. Benefits go to the San Diego Humane Society. Part of the Surf Dog Events series.
