Lena Dunham, the young writer/actor/director/filmmaker/award receiver who took over the world a while back, finally got a dog. This makes us very happy, not only because the adorable mix is a shelter dog who’s now found a loving home, but because it means we can finally write our post about Lena Dunham, the creator of HBO’s Girls. Everyone eventually has to write a post about Lena Dunham, who recently took home two Golden Globes for Girls. Blog posts about Lena Dunham, who got an advance of $3.7 million dollars for her upcoming book, keep certain parts of the Internet afloat.
Now, we’re part of that. Woof.
And Lena Dunham is helping us out in a major way by never ceasing to take pictures of her adorable dog — brilliantly named Lamby, because Lena Dunham is every bit as amazing at naming dogs as she is at making a “dark and deadpan comedy about four young women in Brooklyn who don’t own cool apartments or have glamorous careers, eligible suitors, expensive clothes or even, sometimes, paying jobs” (New York Times) — and posting those photos to her Instagram.
Lamby is a cute dog. He came from Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition. When Dunham was at the shelter adopting him, she got a call from her publicist that she had received a Directors Guild nomination. She got to tell this story to Vanity Fair on the red carpet at the Girls premiere in New York.
She said, “He’s just 12 pounds of weirdness. His name’s Lamby. He comes up to just below my knee, and I have a feeling we’re going to have a great life together. Unless you find out I’ve killed him [editor’s note: we’re assuming with hugs] in a few weeks.”
Here are a lot of pictures of Lena Dunham and Lamby:
Dunham says that Lamby may make it into the show. That would make a great story!
