Mighty Mutts is an excellent dog rescue nonprofit in New York City. Every Saturday at Union Square, its parade of eligible, adorableadoptables draws dog lovers to adopt andvolunteer.
And if they can’t adopt or volunteer, New Yorkerswho find themselves smitten with Mighty Muttswill devise creative projects to help spread the word about thesingular beauty and brillianceof mixed-breed dogs.
As we’ve seen before, publishing a calendar is an excellent way for animal shelters and rescue groups to raise awareness of the homelessmutt problem. So not surprisingly, Mighty Mutts is unleashing a 2012 calendar, “All Dogs in Love.”Its pages feature truly splendid photographs of irresistible mongrels, allshotby Joann Coates, who donated her time and talent to this worthyproject.
To celebrate the calendar’s publication, onSeptember 30, Mighty Mutts is hosting a fundraising party showcasing adopted and adoptable dog models from the calendar.
The venue is the vegan cafe 9 Bleecker at 9 Bleecker Street (at Bowery), and the party will rock from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $15 and include beer or wine and munchies.
Hope to see you there, Dogsters! But if you can’t make it, pleasejoin me in purchasinga calendar or two. They cost $20 each and make great holiday gifts.
