If you’ve read some of my earlier Dogster articles, then you know I’m nuts for neem oil. This extract of the neem tree, which grows abundantly on the Indian subcontinent, is extremely emollient and good for skin and hair, and boasts numerous other health benefits too, so I use it on myself and my dogs just about every day.
Now, Organix-South, manufacturers of neem-infused, all-natural, sulfate- and paraben-free shampoos (separate formulas for dogs and people), conditioner, lip balm, toothpaste, and mouthwash, which I and my four-pack swear by, has just expanded its pet product collection. The new additions are as follows:
Neem Therape Pet Soap in two formulas, Soothing Therapy, designed for dogs with sensitive skin and environmental allergies, so their delicate skin doesn’t become dry or itchy; and Herbal Outdoor Therape, for active dogs who spend lots of time outdoors, where they come in contact with more than the average number of mosquitoes and fleas. In addition to all its other brilliant properties, neem is also a biopesticide that efficiently repels and kills mosquitoes and fleas.
Both 4-ounce soap bars are much more easily squeezed into a backpack or suitcase than a 12-ounce bottle of liquid shampoo.
Meanwhile, Herbal Outdoor Spray for Pets contains skin-friendly neem leaf and neem oil combined with other soothing and nourishing botanicals, to protect an active dog’s skin from drying out in the sun or the swimming hole, with no sticky or oily feel.
And, finally, Skin Soothing Spray for Pets, an alcohol-free, water-based blend of Neem and nourishing botanicals to soothe chronic skin irritation and cool sensitive skin on those dog days when a pup gets too hot under the collar.
