A hero has emerged out of Washington this week — pet lover and pet-store owner Dorothy Hunter, who vows to eat only pet food for a month. Specifically, the cat, dog, and bird food on her Paws Natural Pet Emporium store shelves, according to the New York Daily News.

“I believe in our products and how good they are that I actually believe our pets are eating better than us,” she said in a YouTube video

And to prove it, she’s eating it. All of it. Everything for a month. Granted, Hunter does not own a dollar store and is not eating cheap canned mystery food, but rather high-quality kibble and treats.

“You would be surprised how tasty dog and cat food can be when it’s made right,” she told the Tri-City Herald. “You really are what you eat, and it’s the same for your pets. I decided to eat this food for a month just to prove how good it tastes, as well as showcase its nutrition.”

And how is her stomach?

“Everybody’s been really concerned about my digestion,” Hunter said in another video. “I’m fine. I’m doing great. I feel good.”

Lest you think Hunter is merely shoving her hand in a bag all day, rest assured that her store carries a huge variety of food.

“I’ve also been doing our oven-baked blueberry treats, as well as freeze dried green beans, carrots,” Hunter said. “I’m even doing some canned cat food, one is a succulent chicken, and it actually tastes really good.”

When’s the last time you had a succulent chicken?

We’ve been waiting for a woman like Hunter, and we welcome her with open arms — and we love how she pledged to do it for a month. A week would have been enough for us, even a day, but Hunter is going for more than 90 meals consisting entirely of what she happens to pull off her store’s shelves. We like that kind of crazy. We’d like to see her closet at home.

So eat on, Hunter! Try the salmon flakes! The freeze-dried cheddar cheese! The green bean chips! The chicken pot pie! The beef jerky! Wait, those things sound pretty good!

Indeed, according to Hunter’s very frequent YouTube videos documenting her diet, she does not appear to be suffering at all. She appears to be eating tasty food. And she is bringing a ton of awareness to quality pet foods in the process, which is something we can get behind.
