I’ll bet you think nothing of it: The dog plants his butt to scratch at a flea with his hind foot, then, after some vigorous pawing, the dog stands and shakes it all out, perhaps launching saliva across the room. The motion happens so quickly that you don’t get a chance to catch what your dog looks like through it all.
Until now. Animal photographer Carli Davidson took that simple motion and sped it up (to slow it down), revealing all the many hilarious and horrifying faces your dog is unknowingly capable of.
From Bulldogs to Collies to little Mexican Hairless Dogs, when engaged in The Shake, every dog becomes a weird cartoon version of herself. I mean, honestly, I didn’t know a dog could look like that — did you know a dog could look like that?
And just because Davidson knows you’d like to see The Shake in slow motion in action, here’s two whole minutes of it, which also includes some tongue action that might have you thinking twice about the next time your dog “kisses” you. Since when did dog mouths actually harbor sea slugs? I don’t know! It’s horrifying!
There’s even a shake from a dog in a wheelchair.
Davidson’s book comes out today, and it’s basically the best book ever. She even got a shake from the Internet’s most famous and most adorable Lil Bub!
You can buy it here. Are you going to buy it? For yourself or as a gift?
