It’s a simple yet heartbreaking memorial: a plastic bin, a photograph, and a whole bunch of tennis balls, sitting on a dog beach in Australia, beckoning dogs and owners to come and play. And how could you not, after reading what it says:
According to One Green Planet, Jerry Oliveri stumbled upon the memorial yesterday, paused, reflected, then took a picture and posted it to Reddit, where it spawned nearly 2,000 comments, with many people reflecting on the passing of their own pets and writing about their own memorials.
Here’s one, from Foosh: “My dog died 3 weeks ago, we went to the park every day to play fetch. When Dude (my dog) died I saw a sign in the park signed by all of the other dogs and owners Dude had touched along the way. This picture reminds me of the sign for Dude and something as small as this can really lift someone up when they are down.”
What about you? Have you ever made a memorial to your departed dog? Does this photo inspire you to do something like it? Tell us your story in the comments.
