Shumai is a type of delicious Chinese dumpling – and the name of a delightful, all-American dogin New York City whose owner recently died of lung cancer.
K9 Shumai bears a strongresemblance toa purebredBernese Mountain dog, both in her strikingappearance and her gentle, laid-back personality. You might say she also looks like a more compact version of today’s celebrated dog breed, the Tibetan Mastiff. But she’s actually a mixed-breed mutt. She’s 9 years old, 45 pounds, and currently residing with a foster caregiver, who reports that Shumai gets along beautifully with all people, and other dogs of every size.
Shumai has epilepsy, which is easily controlled with two pills per day. In hopes that this sweet seniordog’s condition won’t deter potential adopters, a kind donor has offered to pay foran entire year’s worth of Shumai’s anti-seizure medication.
To meet Shumai, please contact Breanne, her foster caregiver, via email (breannethomlison@hotmail.com) or call 917-572-0770.
