A survey by Dogs Trust, the UKs largest dog welfare charity, reveals some rather icky statistics. Some 98 percent of UK residents surveyed say they have stepped in dog poo. And 97 percent have seen people live their dog’s mess behind. (The figures match pretty nicely, don’t they?)

This results in a lot of slipping and cleaning and figuring out how to get the stuff out of the treads of shoes, or if it’s even worth trying.

Enter Poop Scoop Week, a Dog Trust brainchild that reaches out to the public in hopes of making dog owners aware that it’s just not OK to poop and run. Schools and communities have embraced the opportunity to get the word out. Kids and adults are putting up poop posters, and reminding people about the joys of scooping.

Dogsters, have you ever stepped in an orphaned pile of dog poop? Would you like to see a scoop-awareness week in your community?
