Dog expressions + photos + good cause = catching my eye, so I reached out to the photographer behind Project 100 Dogs to tell me more about it.
“It is said that a dog has 100 different facial expressions — but is this true?” said Danish photographer Pernille Westh. She created the Project 100 Dogs (Projekt 100 Hunde) to test this statement in an artistic way.
It’s purpose? Show that dogs have 100 different facial expressions and highlight the different personality of each breed, to help people choose the right dog for their family.
“Every year thousands of healthy dogs are being put to sleep due to owners not being able to handle their dogs,” Pernille said. “Often this could have been avoided if the owners had been familiar with the characteristics of the dog breed.”
Can you identify the emotion behind each expression? Check out more of her photographs at her website pernille-westh.dk and on her Facebook page.
